Somnio Lupus is a literate post-by-post role-playing game that takes place on a planet very much like earth. If you could see it, it would be the image of a young earth before things were civilized and destroyed by the human race. Only animals inhabit this planet, but the wolves are the most successful predatory animal. Free to roam anywhere, except on another pack's land; these wolves are both alike and different than wolves on Earth. Many of the sub-species that exist on earth have also grown to exist here, but six unique sub-species have also formed and adapted to the life they live now. Roam where you wish, but be prepared to face the consequences of your actions.

Winter is a cruel mistress in this world. Nights are longer and the ground freezes at night. The waters all over the continent have become freezing, though one can still travel through them. Each biome is affected differently. The Northern Rainforests see only a cold rain; The swamplands get continuous, cold rain with mixed hail; the Central Savannah is randomly covered in as much as four inches of snow; the Central Forests are rarely not covered in snow and its as deep as 10 inches; the Western Drylands are seeing mixed rain, snow and sleet at least once a week; the beaches to the East are cold and snowy, and ice can be seen forming around the shore; and the Southern Icelands are experiencing a horrendous blizzard that has no signs of letting up anytime soon.
» 12. 13. 08 Somnio Lupus opened to the public yesterday. Please note that we are only freshly opened and, of course, need active members at this time. If anyone has any questions you can ask in the c-box or email me. Other than that we are eagerly awaiting more members to join us. At any rate, have a great day and I hope you find an RP site for you. :]

Pack Ranks and Mating « Thread Started on Jun 9, 2006, 2:23pm »
Pack Ranking
Packs are formed of a specific hierarchy, not only in Real life, but also here in Somnio Lupus. For those wanting to start out a pack, you do not need a mate to become or remain Alpha Male/Female, But it is preferred..
REMEMBER: Only alphas can mate!
Alpha Pair (1 M or 1 F) Alpha Heir (1 M or F) Alpha's Pups Beta (1 M or F) Delta (1 M or F) Wolves Wolfesses Adolescence Yearlings Pups Omega
Alpha Pair: The leading Wolves of a pack. A male and a female wolf. These two make all decisions for the pack such Pack Structure and who will be placed in which ranking. These two are the only to given the privilege of mating. Alpha Heir: A single pup within the litter that the parents see fit to be the next pack leader should they step down or perish. An Alpha Heir does not take leadership of the pack however if the current alpha is defeated in a challenge over pack leadership. The Alpha heir can however regain leadership should he/she defeat the new Alpha/alpha's in combat. Alpha's Pups : The Brothers and Sisters of the Alpha Heir. These pups are next in line should anything happen to the alpha heir before he/she takes over the responsibilities of the pack. Beta : The Alpha's Second in Command and Their Protector. They’re general so to speak. This Wolf is highly trusted by the alpha's, Either due to the fact that the wolf is an old friend of the alpha's, or the wolf had earned the trust of the alpha's through undeniable loyalty and devotion. This Wolf Is responsible for keeping Order among the pack and making sure that every order given by the alpha is followed through precisely as planned. Delta Wolf: Sort of the Sargent of the Wolf Pack. Falling in under the Beta. The delta Wolf is responsible for Searching out the areas of land the Alpha’s decide to hunt in as well as finding a desired type of prey. They are responsible for tracking down the required prey and setting up a plan of action on how best to complete a successful hunt. Along With the Beta, this wolf Is responsible for the Alpha’s safety. Wolves : These are the male and female wolves that make up the general body of the Pack. They Follow the alpha’s rule, they hunt and they protect the pack. These Wolves are not permitted to mate unless given the privilege by the alphas. Most Wolves are The children from previous Alpha pair matings, as well as a majority of Rogue wolves or wanderers that were permitted to join the pack. Adolescent: The Teenage Wolf. These Wolves are between one year and three years of age. These Wolves are finishing up learning their life skills and are in the process of deciding whether they wish to remain within the pack or whether they feel that they need to start their own life elsewhere. Yearlings : These are the Youngsters. Pups that have finally reached their first year. Life lessons begin to get tougher and the realizations of Life’s dangers are coming into focus. It is at this stage of life that Pups begin to learn how to hunt by joining in on lesser hunts and being given the opportunity to take down their first kill. These Wolves are very gangly and are finally managing to keep control of their own limbs. This is the stage where Pups begin to fill out into their adult form, losing allot of their puppyish clumsiness. These Wolves are between the ages of 10 months to a year in age. Pups : The name says it all folks. These are the pups of the pack. The main majorities are the alphas own offspring, and also the offspring of the wolves permitted to mate (Rarity). These Wolves are very small, and very clumsy and are just beginning to explore the world outside the den. They are normally between 1 month to 9 months of age. Omega : This is the lowest member of the pack, the pack Jester. If a Wolf just doesn’t seem to fit in anywhere else within the pack, they are normally made the omega. The omega does the housework so to speak. He/She watches over the pups and the den site while the pack is away hunting. The omega Does not give orders but obeys them, he/she is permitted to eat last due to his/her status amongst the pack. These wolves are normally very slim, bordering Gaunt, and tend to be slightly comical. But just because this Is the lowliest member, does not mean that their role is less important then the rest. This Wolf designates play time for the others, jumping about to get everyone to join in on some fun. Without the Omega and playtime, a pack would have difficulties staying united as one.
To become an alpha
The land must have no other wolves in it that would pose a problem.
If the land or territory already has an alpha, you must fight for it.
To form a pack you must have reached at the very least 70 posts. Upon Achieving this goal, You must contact Moon or another Mod and state your pack name, location, and how it will be structured. It will be decided amongst the mods whether or not your pack will be processed. We are not doing this to be cruel or too hard on the rp, it just keeps the board from getting flooded with packs that only have 1 alpha and no other members.
To claim a land that has not been claimed and you have done the above things, just go there and create a thread titled *CLAIMING*. Then a Moderator will come and speak to you and discuss the things stated above.
To create a land, you need a mate and at least 85 posts. Then you can PM Moon or the mods and request a land of your own. However, do not feel deprived if you are not granted, we may have an overflow of lands already and are unable to give you your request.
Matings: Matings will come various times throughout the year. Probably 3-4 times a year. I know this isn't as realistic as real-life, but it keeps it so that all packs have a chance at pups.
DO NOT EVER MATE ON THE FORUMS. Is NOT allowed and never will be. You can carr out your mating in a PM, if you actually want it to happen like that.
